From 21 March to 3 May 2026, the splendid setting of Villa Fiorentino in Sorrento hosts the photographic exhibition “Oreste Pipolo Fotografo: From weddings to his Naples“, a visual journey between memory, tradition and urban landscape.
The exhibition celebrates one of the most iconic photographers of Neapolitan photography, Oreste Pipolo, famous for having immortalized the world of popular Neapolitan weddings and the daily life of the city with a unique style.
Curated by Chiara Russo, Ivana Pipolo and Miriam Pipolo, the exhibition offers a selection of images that tell not only the wedding ritual, but also the cultural identity of Naples, between irony, theatricality and authenticity.
The exhibition is part of the cultural project “Memory and Matter“, promoted by the Sorrento Foundation, with the aim of enhancing the contemporary artistic and photographic heritage.
Oreste Pipolo he was one of the most recognizable photographers on the Neapolitan scene. Born in 1947 and passed away in 2015, he built his career by documenting the social life of Naples with an ironic and profoundly human gaze.
His work has become internationally famous thanks to his ability to transform everyday moments into images full of cultural meaning.
Among the most representative subjects of his photographic production are Neapolitan weddings, told with a direct and theatrical style that mixes reportage and social photography.
